Ramble in the South Downs

Grab your walking boots and immerse yourself in the South Downs

Recognised as an area of outstanding beauty, the sloping hills and ancient woodlands of the South Downs National Park has long attracted walkers and ramblers with its promise of incredible landscapes and fascinating wildlife.

Here you can roam through forests carpeted with bluebells, watch roe deer darting through wildflower meadows or, if you’re lucky, you might spot hares boxing or a red kite hunting in the skies above. Although you must also make sure you take the time to soak in the bustling market towns steeped in history and traditional English culture.

For true rambling adventure, we’re perfectly situated as a stopover for those walking along the South Downs Way. Winding its way from Winchester, the first capital of England, all the way to the white chalk cliffs of Eastbourne on the coast, this 160 kilometre National Trail cuts right through the Chichester countryside. Ideal for ardent ramblers or those looking to escape the city grind.
